March 16th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Sudan’s leader of the ruling sovereignty council Abdel Fatah al-Burhan has declared a state of emergency in a bid to fight the outbreak of the coronavirus.

A statement by the Council issued this afternoon did not specify a timeframe for the state of emergency but said the health measure taken by the National Defense and Security Council was taken in line with the country’s efforts to fight the virus.

“The Security and Defense Council decided at its meeting at Republican Palace today to declare a State of Health Emergency in the country to confront the Coronavirus,” the statement said.

Sudan on has no case of coronavirus after a patient – a citizen – who returned to the country from abroad died a few days after arrival.
