While leading SSUM/SSUAF, Hon. Denay in support of Hon. Gabriel Changson of the FDP, who refused to be replaced after losing a SSOA election in Juba, broke away from the SSOA coalition leaving the rest of the parties to decide on the leadership of the SSOA.
“South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) has now got its unity and strength back which was torned apart by former acting chairman of SSUm. So, SSUM new leadership will play its role in regard to the challenges facing our youngest nation.” He continued.
The six parties led by Dr. Lam Akol, Joseph Bakosoro, Josephine Lagu and others later on elected Josephine to lead them.
Changson, a controversial Nuer politician who has broke ranks with more than six parties within the last six years, now works closely with Salva Kiir government.
For the last two years, Hon. Changson has consolidated his relationship with the government and whether he may re-join the coalition remains to be seen.
While training his forces in Nasir, Hon. Changson traveled recently to New York on SSOA ticket to represent the opposition parties leaving doubts if the government still recognize the SSOA coalition.
On the other hand, one of the SSOA leaders, Dr. Lam Akol, has recently reiterated their called for extension of the Pre-Transitional Period as the SPLM/A-IO leader, Dr. Riek Machar demanded.
The new leadership of SSUM/SSUAF pledges its allegiance to full implementation of the R-ARCISS in collaboration with other political parties which are signatories to the peace agreement.
