Juba, South Sudan
August 9, 2021 — The leadership of South Sudan United Front /Army (SSUF/A) under the former SSPDF Chief of General Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan has rubbished the accusations labeled against its members that they looted the World Food Programme (WFP) in Unity State.
In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, the Military Spokesperson of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A), Col. Akol Akol Pel says the reports circulated on media platforms purporting that their soldiers have looted WFP in Unity State were baseless and unfounded news which he says are designed by the enemy of progress to tarnish their good reputation.
The SSUF/A is also calling on the public to treat any information without concrete evidence as pure propaganda.
“To Begin with, there has been this mushrooming information in various social media platforms including Facebook, tweeter among other media houses that the looters of the UN humanitarian food agency best known as WFP (World Food Program) are elements related to SSUF/A in Unity state is a “mere concoction” and chit chat it was first authored by Alhadi Hawari on 21 July 2021 with no clear indications that the attackers are part of us. Therefore, I call upon the general public and humanitarian agencies to treat that piece of a blame leveled against us by enemies of progress as trash and unfounded”, SSUF/A col. Akol said in a statement.
According to the statement, the senior opposition official blames the government for not providing adequate security for the humanitarian workers and agencies in the country adding that to point fingers on their party as scapegoat is a misplaced blame.
“Broadly speaking, the South Sudan government has failed to curtail rampant insecurity across the country and targeting of humanitarian workers in the misgoverned war torn nation for so long now and the UN and other world bodies are aware of these. Hence pointing the fingers of baseless accusations on SSUF/A without justification amounts to nothing but contempt and ineptness on the side of Juba elements”, it further stated.
SSUF/A Spokesperson further emphasized that their generals have military doctrines and are well informed about human rights and international principles and as such they cannot practice such irresponsible actions.
“Furthermore, SSUF/A political leader and military command are some of the well experienced generals in both times of struggle for our nation to the present with full and well laid out principles and respect to international accords in regard to humanitarian laws and multinationals conventions on human rights. In fact WFP has no citizens in South Sudan but just helping us to feed our disadvantaged population due to a man-made crisis that all of us know its origin”, Col. Akol inserted in the statement.
