Sep 4,2021 — The Chairman of the South Sudan People’s Movement /Army (SSPM/A) Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang condemns his arch rival, Dr. Joseph Nguen Manytuil, the governor of Unity State, for recruiting children to fight for what he terms as personal interest.
The SSPM/A Chairman claims that the Unity State Governor and Presidential Advisor for Security Affairs Tut Gatluak Manime are recruiting Bentiu youth to fight rebels of National Salvation Front (NAS) in Equatoria as way of appeasing President Salva Kiir to maintain them in their respective seats.Â
“The leadership of South Sudan People’s Movement /Army has learnt with great compassion the conscription of Bentiu youth into army by Governor Nguen Manytuil and Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs Tutkeaw Gatluak, and these young people have been transported to Equatoria region in order to fight NAS forces as a mean of pleasing President Kiir to maintain their positions, some of these newly mustered child soldiers will be deployed at the presidential palace to protect the president “, SSPM/A Spokesperson Peter Malieth said in a statement.
The SSPM/A stressed that the people of oil-rich Unity state have never enjoyed tranquility and stability like other citizens due to this culture of using young people for the purpose of achieving different projects which solely suit the interests of the individuals.
“The government of Unity State has been committing inhuman activities (atrocities) in the last seven years and had routinely marred the future of many youth by imposing forceful recruitment against them without their consent”, Malieth added in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.
The SSPM/A also condemns the governor for using 5% of oil revenue that is intended for Unity State citizens for his personal gains leaving citizens exposed to natural catastrophes.
South Sudan People’s Movement/Army was founded on 9th of August 2021 by Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang who declared himself as an interim Chairman and Commander-in-Chief.
Gen. Buay believes that his movement will topple president Kiir regime to install a democratic leadership where citizens will not be discriminated based on their cultural, religious, political and ethnic lines.
