The National Salvation Front (NAS) said in a statement on Monday that the government forces in Loka West area of Yei county raped three women, maimed seven people, made members of Revival Community of Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) drink alcohol, looted properties and burned several huts.

NAS spokesperson said in a statement that these crimes are violations against cessation of Hostilities agreement (CoHA).

“These crimes are serious violations of the Cessation of Hostilities agreement which aimed at protection of civilians and provision of unhindered access to humanitarian assistance,” the statement read.

He further said that the government army is committing a similar human rights violation in Western Bahr el Ghazal State and killed innocent civilians without details.

The statement went on to condemn the crimes which it called “ethnic-based crimes”

“The Leadership of NAS condemns in the strongest possible terms these heinous crimes of the regime of Salva Kiir and holds the SSPDF and President Kiir responsible for committing ethnic-based crimes in South Sudan”

Manase regretted that the crimes are being committed as the peace monitors are watching.

“It is very unfortunate and alarming that these crimes are being committed in full glare while the peace monitors are watching and being indifferent,” regretted the statement.

NAS reassured the members and supporters of the historic movement that it is committed to addressing the root causes of the conflict in the country.

It also called on the people of South Sudan to take charge, speak out and defend themselves against criminals of the Juba regime.
