October 26th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The leader of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance  (SSOA) Changson Lew Chang has urged the government of President Salva Kiir to take confident building measures before celebrations of the peace agreement in Juba on Tuesday.

In a letter directed to president Salva Kiir Mayardiit issued on Wednesday, the leader of the opposition alliance urges president Kiir to take measures which are necessary measures to build confident.

“We hope that your government will take the necessary steps towards creating the conducive atmosphere for the celebration to be meaningful,” Changson said in the letter dated 24 October 2018 seen by the Nyamilepedia

Changson said although their attendance and the conduct of celebrations sends hope to the people for end to war, Lew said there is need that the gun should silent first.

“Although the ceremony would send a message of hope to our people in being seen together, however, the single most important and urgent message we must send to our suffering people is for the guns to fall silent. We hope all Parties will observe total ceasefire before that occasion,” the statement added.

Lew further urged the President to lift the state of emergency and the complete release of prisoners of war in line with the permanent ceasefire agreement and the final peace deal signed on Addis Ababa last month by President Salva Kiir Mayardit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
