April 4, 2022—The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-In- Opposition has lifted its temporal suspension from taking part in the meetings of Join security bodies.
This comes less than 24 hours after the parties reached a compromise on command of the unified forces by 40-60% power sharing ratio yesterday in South Sudanese capital Juba on 3rd March, 2022.
In a statement seen yesterday by Nyamilepedia, the Chairman and Commander-In-Chief of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, says his leadership renounced its suspension decision following the agreement signed on Sunday on the command structure of the unified army by all opposition groups and SPLM (IG) party led by President Kiir.

Following the signature of the agreement on Unification of the Command of Forces today 3rd April 2022 in Juba, the SPLM/SPLA (IO) leadership hereby lifts the suspension of participation of SPLM/SPLA (IO) in the meetings of security mechanisms namely JDB, JTSC, JMCC, SDSR Board, CTSSAM, SSM as well as the National Transitional Committee (NTC) and Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC), with immediate effect. “, Dr. Riek Machar said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.
On 28th March, 2022 the leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) suspended its participation from the meetings of the security mechanisms in a protest against subsequent attacks on their forces by SSPDF in both Unity and Upper Nile State.
