May 23rd 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The ruling SPLM party has convened a meeting of the Political Bureau in Juba on Wednesday over the reunification process of the fractured party.

The meeting, chaired by President Salva Kiir, was also attended by members of the Former Detainees, Deng Alor, and Rebecca Garang.

The First Vice-President Taban Deng Gai was as well available representing his faction which broke away from Machar’s IO in 2016.

While opening the meeting, President Salva Kiir who is also the Chairman of the party urged the unity of the SPLM leaders saying the people in the country trust the SPLM more than any other political entity.

“As we gather here, I call upon all of us to refocus our energies to the unity of the SPLM so that the peace agreement we are implementing reunites the people once again and gives us the opportunity to consolidate peace and stability in the country,” Kiir said.

“There is no other party the people of this country trust other than SPLM and this put us on spotlight once we are about to move away from pursuing common aspirations,” he added.
