September 21st 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) is meeting in the Sudanese capital Khartoum to discuss the revitalized agreement signed in the Ethiopian capital Khartoum with the government.

South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon signed the long awaited peace deal last week to end the five-year old brutal conflict.

Other opposition groups including the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by Changson Lew signed the agreement as well with some few groups within the alliance abstaining.

The government last week endorsed the agreement in a cabinet meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir himself.

To endorse the agreement, the SPLM-IO for its part has called for a national liberation council meeting on Khartoum and will be attended by top political leaders as well as top military commanders and they prepare to start work on important issues.

The agreement provided for the establishment is a transitional government of national unity which shall be preceded by a eight-month pretransitional period starting from the day the agreement is signed.
