September 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition group, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO), is not for extension of the pre-transitional period, a spokesman allied to Machar said Sunday.
Machar on Monday arrived in Juba for a visit which may take days within which he will meet face-to-face with President Salva Kiir Mayardit to discuss the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Sunday evening, the SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Balaung said Machar is not for the extension of the pre-transitional period.
He said the main armed opposition leader will discuss during the Juba visit with President Salva Kiir how the process could be expedited and make sure that all the tasks meant to be completed during the pre-transitional period are all in place.
“We are not for the extension of the pre-transitional period,” Baluang said. “H.E. the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief Dr. Riek Machar will discuss all the pre-transitional tasks with president Salva Kiir and how to expedite them.”
Baluang further reiterated Machar’s commitment to the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
