December 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition group has said that it was unaware of any conspiracy to keep its leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny in Juba instead of Khartoum.
Reports on social media alleged that the regional body, IGAD, was in consultation to transfer Machar’s detention from Sudanese capital Khartoum to Juba.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Baluang said his group was not aware of any conspiracy to keep Machar in Juba.
“We are not aware of any conspiracy against the Chairman and Commander in Chief who is now with his high-level delegation in Juba,” Baluang said.
He said Machar’s meeting with President Kiir over the outstanding issues has been concluded and that he was waiting for Sudan’s deputy chairman of Sovereignty Council Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo to conclude his activities in Juba before returning to Khartoum.
“We are waiting for deputy chairman of Sudan Sovereignty Council Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo so that the Chairman can return to Khartoum,” he said.
