July 24th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The SPLM-IO appointed governor of Sobat State Maj. Gen. James Banak Riang has formed a state Revenue Authority and appointed the Chairperson, deputy and representative of other financial institution in the state.
In a gubernatorial degree he issued on Saturday, Banak said his government had realized that the establishment of a joint revenue commission for the state is crucial for gathering resources for the armed opposition group led by the former FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
“The state authority has humbly learned that the important of establishment of joint revenue commission, to implement and consolidate the national and state taxes specifically in the borders and the state,” the governor said in a degree seen by the Nyamilepedia.
The governor further said his decision to form the revenue authority is in line with the implementation of the assignments given to him by the Chairman and Commander in Chief Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.
“Therefore, as a matter of concern and implementing assignment bestowed upon me by the Chairman and Commander in chief of SPLM/A (IO) Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, I Maj. Gen. James Banak Riang, Governor of Sobat State do hereby issue the office order for the formation of revenue commission and the appointment of the high executive board with political status as,” he said.
The governor appointed Wiw Puok Toangwar as the chairperson, Stephen Lok Gathoth Wath as the deputy chairperson, James Gatluak Wuor as a representative of the state taxation, Andrew Hoth Kang as the representative of the state commerce and trade and Chuol Kueth Panyuan as the representative of the state immigration.
Banak was appointed in May 2018 by the SPLM-IO leader to replace governor Chuol Pouch.
