Melbourne, Australia.
August 20, 2021—The Former Chairperson of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-IO) in Australia and Machar critic , Nyajany Dei Wang has switched her political allegiance from Hon. Duer Tut Duer to Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, the ring leader of Kitgwang declaration.
Nyajany, who has been an active critic of Machar’s leadership for three years has abandoned the less supported camp of the SPLM-IO reformist faction loyal to Former SPLM-IO governor of Sobat State Gen. Duer Tut Duer and shifted her full support to the senior opposition commander Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual who has declared himself recently as Chairman and Commander-In-Chief of SPLM/A-IO replacing Dr. Riek Machar Teny who is now in Juba as country’s first vice president.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Nyajany Dei wang says today she withdraws her support from reformist leader, Duer Tut Duer and joined the Kitgwang declaration under what she calls “capable leadership” of Gen. Gatwech Dual and Gen. Johnson Olony, meanwhile reiterating her full support for the removal of Machar from the SPLM-IO leadership.
She also states that the opposition members need solidarity and unity for them to translate their objective into reality.
“Dear compatriots, today we announce withdrawal of our affirmed support to declaration of Honourable Duer Tut Duer as the Interim Chairman of SPLM/A –IO. As well as declare our allegiance and full support to Kitgwang declaration under capable leadership of the C In C First Lt General Simon Gatwech Dual and Lt General Johnson Olony Thabo and also equally supports the removal of former Chairman Dr Riek Machar Dhurgon from SPLM- IO leadership. We support and share objective and raised concerns in the declaration. Some of which we had advocated for over the last 18 month”, the statement reads by part.
“Also, we believe that strong opposition requires solidarity and unity of all who stand with the cause and aspire to see R-ARCSS implemented in letter and spirit”, the statement added.
“Deposed Dr Riek Machar, is deservedly removed since he had failed the mission of the movement, his duties, and more importantly, he compromised the implementation of the fundamental provisions of the revitalised agreement, the statement further emphasized.
According to their statement, Nyajany is too optimistic of Kitgwang Declaration and she believes it will preserve the true cause of the marginalized people of South Sudan.
” Dear compatriots, we trust Kitgwang Declaration leadership will maintain the course towards achieving aspirations, and peace hopes of the victimised citizens of South Sudan”, she said in a statement.
Nyajany Dei Wang did not specify the reasons as to why she left Duer’s faction just two months from its declaration however she has provided the names of those whom she claimed to have defected with and their names are written below.
