August 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by Dr. Riek Machar has passed away in a Kampala hospital this morning, according to a statement by Machar.
Dr. Duol Tut Guor who has been a the deputy governor for the main armed opposition’s Sobat state died of liver cancer according to the main armed opposition leader.
“On behalf of SPLM/SPLA (IO ) and on my behalf, I wish to convey my deep condolences to his family, to SPLM/SPLA (IO ) paternity and the entire South Sudanese people on the passing on in Kampala of Dr. Guol Tut Guor Waat, Deputy Governor of Sobat state after battling liver cancer for over three months,” Machar announced in a condolence message extended to Nyamilepedia.
“He was briefly treated in Nairobi Women Hospital and in Doctors’ Clinic in Khartoum where hie was diagnosed to have liver cancer at fatal stage. In that light, he was flown to Kampala where his family resides. He passed on at 00:05 AM early morning today 25 August 2015,” Machar added.
The main armed opposition leader further said the deceased “will be flown home to Sobat state to be laid to rest.”
