November 24th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, has denied reports that Sudanese security elements searched the residence of its leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny in Khartoum.

On Saturday, reports circulated on social media alleging that members of the Sudanese General Intelligence searched Machar’s house and reportedly arrested a number of guards belonging to Machar after confiscating their weapons.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Baluang said the reports were untrue saying they were propaganda by enemies of the main armed opposition group.

“Not, that’s another episode of propaganda by the Anti-SPLM/SPLA (IO) elements,” he said.

Machar is currently being detained in the Sudanese capital Khartoum as part of a regional conspiracy to keep out of South Sudan’s politics. He has been under that status since late 2016 after he was forced to flee Juba following fighting between his guards and those loyal to President Salva Kiir at state house J1.
