SPLM-IO denies ‘fake’ reports of brawl among members at hotel

March 7th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s main armed opposition group SPLM-IO has denied reports of brawl among members at a hotel in the South Sudanese capital Juba.

This comes after social media users reported that a fistfight erupted at a SPLM-IO meeting at Pyramid Continental Hotel.

In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia this morning, Kalany Mamun, a social media official of the main armed opposition group said the group was concerned over what it said was fake news alleging a fistfight among members at an hotel in Juba.

“We noted with concerns [the] fake news circulated on social media that there was brawl among SPLM-IO leaders at Pyramid Continental Hotel in Juba,” Kalany said in the statement.

“We wish to clarify to our supporters and the general public that, there was nothing of such kind. It’s was fake as the person who created it. It was bad lies and unfounded. We would like to cautious our members to be vigilant and not succumbed to fake news,” the statement added.
