Sep 15, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Sudanese Primer Minister, Dr. Abdallah Hamdok, received a high-level delegation of the South Sudan’s main armed opposition faction, the SPLM/A-IO, in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.
In a statement extended to media by Dr. Hamdok’s press office, the SPLM/A-IO delegation was led by Dr. Adam Tidjani Abdullah.
“The Prime Minister Dr. Abdallah Hamdok received today in his office a delegation from Sudans People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by Dr. Adam Tidjani Abdullah,” Read part of the press statement from Dr. Hamdok’s office.
According to the Prime Minister’s office, the Sudanese leader received congratulatory message from South Sudan’s First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, for the bold steps the Sudanese leaders are taking in the best interest of peace.
“The delegation congratulated the Prime Minister on the occasion of the initialing of the peace agreement between the transitional government and the Sudanese Revolutionary Front,” The Prime Minister’s aids said.
The South Sudanese leaders are praying for peace in Sudan and wishing that the ongoing Juba-based mediation deliver the peace that many Sudanese have longed for.
“The delegation conveyed to the Prime Minister the greetings of Dr. Riek Machar, First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (IO), wishing that peace prevail in all parts of Sudan and South Sudan,” the Sudanese leaders acknowledged.
These gestures came just a few days after the Sudanese leaders signed Principle Declaration and a Joint Agreement that are expected to be finalized through the signing of the peace agreement at the beginning of October.
The Sudanese are working hard to establish a new beginning that may consolidate peace, democracy and prosperity for the whole country.
