SPLM states chairpersons to meets before the 2nd of December 2018.
Nov 28th, 2018 (Nyamilepedia) — For the first time this year, the SPLM states chairpersons scheduled to meets in Lobonok, Central Equatoria before the 2nd of December 2018.
The calls for the emergency meeting came after the consultation among the states chairpersons to updates their offices concerning how to strengthen the country’s ruling party at the grassroots level.
In a statement to the media, the newly appointed SPLM Spokesperson, Hon. Peter Lam Both said that the President will be in Lobonok to officiate the meeting.
The meeting is set to attract some of the top ruling party officials.
According to the press release made by the SPLM spokesperson on Wednesday, the leadership appeared to all the SPLM states chairpersons to turn up and put all the necessary facilitation in place to make the meeting successful.
“The leadership of SPLM has appealed to all SPLM Interim Chairpersons across the states to converge in Lobonok before the 2nd of December, set for the retreat of the ruling party.” Lam said.
South Sudan president, Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, who is struggling to rebrand his image, was officially briefed on Wednesday by the Second Vice President H.E James Wanni Igga on further steps taken for the preparation on the due event.
“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed on Wednesday by the Vice President, Dr. James Wani Igga on the preparations made for the SPLM for the upcoming SPLM retreat that is expected to take place on December 2nd next month.” He said.
South Sudan under the ruling party SPLM is considered a failed state, a notion the ruling party continues to dismiss as a Western Propaganda.
The young nation is facing a civil war which is now entering its sixth year. The recently signed September peace agreement is being seen by the critics as a waste of time and a method employed by the SPLM as a way of fencing sanctions on its members.
There are more challenges to the agreement since the committees implementing the peace are behind the schedule.
However, many believed that this peace agreement is going to hold its ground. In the recent weeks, the main parties to the agreement, the SPLM in Opposition and the government of South Sudan continued to encourage their army wings to meets at their various locations as part of building trust among the civilians.
