Khartoum, Sudan
May 6, 2022 — Opposition leader and Chairman of the National Democratic Movement, Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, said a party which has failed to serve people deserves no chance during general elections.
Dr. Lam was responding to a nationwide campaign that is being carried out unofficially by the governing party, Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), in what they believe to be in preparation for 2023 elections.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Dr. Lam, who doubles, as the Secretary-General of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), says the ruling SPLM has failed to delivery services for almost two decades and as such it has no hope to secure a chance in future elections.
“.. A party in power for 16 years with no record in service delivery to the people, only corruption, and civil wars has no chance in a free and fair election”, Dr. Lam tweeted on Tuesday.
“.. Living on the past has a limit. Even the mud fight (Luth) eats its tail for survival only once” he advised.
Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin is one of the most vocal opposition figures in the country. He is reputed for his consistent stance against corruption and bad governance in South Sudan.
Dr. Lam is a signatory to the 2018 Revitalized Agreement; however, he distanced himself after president Salva Kiir and his ruling party shown no interest in working with him.
