June 24, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A member of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition (SPLM/SPLA-IO) has died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum this week, officials said.
Brigadier General Gatluak Nhial Tut who was deployed at the SPLA-IO division in Upper Nile state was rushed to the Sudanese capital Khartoum last year following concerns on his health, according to a senior SPLM-IO official.
“General Gatluak Nhial passed away in Khartoum this week. He has been under treatment for a while in Khartoum,” one relative was quoted by South Sudan News Now from Khartoum on today.
Another relative said the late general was a prominent member of the group’s division in Northern Upper Nile state. He said he was evacuated to Khartoum last year following the deterioration of his health conditions.
“He was deployed in Northern Upper Nile state. After he fall sick, he was taken to Khartoum where he passed on this week,” the relative who spoke to South Sudan News Now on condition of anonymity said.
