December 4th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior commander of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has resigned from the Machar-led movement and decided to join General Ochan Puot who abandoned the main armed opposition group in August.
Brigadier General Nhial Nyal Diing who worked for the SPLA-IO’s logistical department in Northern Upper Nile region accused Machar of corruption accusing him of failure to contain misbehaviors of Gawar community members working in the SPLA-IO.
He said he was “forwarding my resignation from our movement because the army administration in the [SPLM] IO is not doing things in the right way because any general is working on what favor his own interest.”
The senior opposition officer further declared that he has now joined the pro-government opposition faction led by General Ochan Puot who abandoned the main armed opposition group in August this year.
“Now, I leave the movement and corruption of Riek Machar and Gawar to Join Maj. Gen. James Ochan Puot.”
