SPLA-IO appreciates Sudanese initiative to neutralize a fight at the borderline

Jan 05, 2021(Nyamilepedia) — Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has appreciated the initiative by the Sudanese army to neutralize a fight that emerged between the South Sudanese and Sudanese communities living at the borderline over a water source yesterday morning.

SPLA-IO spokesperson Brig.General William Gatjiath Deng said that the fight was between two citizens who had quarreled over the water point leading to the death of a Sudanese national.

“The Office of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition SPLA (IO), would like to sensitize the public about the incident which took place at Jabel Magenis, which lies at the borderline of South Sudan and Sudan, this morning between the two citizens has been officially controlled and it happened that, the host communities have been sharing the water points or boreholes for years and used to supplies water to the inhabitants of the area,” read the statement by the opposition army spokesperson.

 “The two citizens had quarreled over water points and later led to the complete demise of one person at the side of Sudan and several injured in both sides in exchange of sticks and stones but the Sudanese soldiers nearby, had fired bullets purposely to deter the situation after the intensification of the then incident,” Brig. Gen Gatjiath Said.

SPLA-IO spokesperson further said that the joint military committee of both armies is being officially mandated to see the issue has been solved.

He said that the issue has been settled and calm has returned in the area. 

According to Brig. Gen Gatjiath, the SPLM/A (IO) leadership has appreciated the initiative taken by the Sudan government that stood firm to disregard the incident. 

He further urged the people fabricating information to be waiting from the right sources first.

“To inform those who are fabricating and negatively translating the incident are not officially receiving their news from the right sources.,” he said.
