“The Office of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs (SPLM-IO) in Yei River State sends this urgent appeal to your esteemed offices to earnestly intervene and avail humanitarian relief to the thousands of vulnerable lDPs who have fallen Victims of the recent atrocities caused by joint operations of NAS and SSNMC as they launched anti-peace campaigns in Mugwo and Yankonye Payam in Yei River County and Mukaya in Lainya County” said

Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Sunday, the Director for Humanitarian Affairs and Food Security (SPLM IO), Wayi Godwill revealed that, hundreds of civilians have been left destitute as a result of the military operations in the area.

“There are also thousands of civilians who are victims of the last military clashes at Kupera, Mundu and Limuro In Lainya County and Kendin and Mangalatore in Kayo-Keji County,” he said.

He added that it’s in the light of the appalling suffering of the civilians that the office of the SPLM (IO) for Humanitarian Affairs has drawn an inference to appeal to all UN Agencies, National Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), International non-governmental organizations and (INGOs), Church-based institutions and Private sector for urgent interventions.

“It is on the account of the dire humanitarian situation in the new lDPs Sites at Mugwo, Kinyira and Wundukori in Yei, Koyoki, Pakere, Tegoro and Bingo in Lainya and Merewa, Logo, Azio and Kerwa in Kayo-Key that we decided to swiftly appeal to you to intervene in support of the vulnerable civilians who are in dire need of food, shelter, medicines, cooking utensils, water containers, clothing, mosquito nets among others”.

The main opposition group, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In-Opposition (SPLM-IO), calls upon the Inter-governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Troika countries and the International Community to keep a careful watch on holdouts and other groups that were non-signatories to the peace accord.

“We want to take this opportunity to clearly inform the people of South Sudan, lGAD, AU, Troika and the International Community that the breakaway factions of NAS and SSNMC who blatantly rejected the revitalized peace agreement have in the recent weeks stepped up  series of atrocious attacks on Villages occupied by defenseless civilian population who they perceive as sympathizers and supporters of SPLM/A (10) in the State, As a result, a number of civilians subjected to abuses of rape, murder, looting and abductions of young children as conscripts which forced them especially women and children to massively flee to relatively calm areas”

The opposition group urges the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) to make an effort in convincing the non-signatory groups to accept peace and stop hostile activities in the state.

“We also appeal to CTSAAM to reach out to those dissidents and pursue them to abandon their negative activities and embrace the [6lele peace agreement”
