November 6th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit is expected to dissolve the incumbent Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) on Friday, sources with knowledge have said.

Kiir himself told legislators at Freedom Hall in Juba on Tuesday that he “will dissolve the government” without pointing to when he would do that.

Based on a May extension, the parties to the revitalized peace agreement are expected to form a unity government by next Tuesday which Kiir has said he will not miss despite the absence of pre-transitional tasks the agreement set forth before a government could be formed.

I will dissolve government,” Kiir told lawmakers during the opening of the second session of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly.

[I will] release the peace funds balance to complete integration of forces; and form R-TGNU on 12th November; you pass the constitution amendment bills, and relevant security legislation within 7 days.”

Opposition groups such as the SPLM-IO led by Machar has said it will opt out of the unity government unless outstanding issues such as the formation of the unified army, police and national security as well as the determination of the number and boundaries of states are settled.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, a source in Juba told the Nyamilepedia that the president will dissolve the government on Friday and will be prepared to form a unity government on November 12th.

The United States has previously said it will not recognize and unilateral government that would exclude Machar who is a main signatory to the revitalized peace agreement signed in September last year in Addis Ababa.
