South Sudan’s Kiir to attend Afro-Japanese summit in August

May 4th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, has been invited to attend an Afro-Japanese summit in August by Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, visiting Japanese foreign minister – Taro Kono –  told journalists on Saturday in the capital Juba.

President Kiir this afternoon met the Japanese foreign minister in Juba and discussed bilateral ties between Tokyo and Juba according to a statement by the Presidency.

According to the statement, the meeting was attended by South Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Nhial Deng Nhial who thanked the Japanese envoy for his visit to Juba.

“President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with the Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister Taro Kono at the state house this afternoon,” the statement by the Presidency said.

According to the statement, the Japanese envoy “handed over to the President of the Republic Salva Kiir Mayardit an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to attend the Japan-Africa Summit in August this year.”
