October 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has said that the use of gun do not solve problems in any country.

Kiir made the remarks while speaking during the opening session of the Sudanese peace talks in Juba.

The opening session was attended by Sudan’s head of Sovereignty Council General Abdel Fatah al-Burhan, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni as well as Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.

Kiir pointed to South Sudan’s six-year old conflict as an example saying the war which has killed thousands and displaced millions didn’t solve the problem which led to the civil war.

“Our experience shows that no one can win the battle through the barrel of a gun, but through political dialogue, negotiation and compromises that lead to the resolution of all disputes,” he said.

“We desire that there will be internal peace in the two countries and that there will be coexistence between the citizens of the two countries,” said President Kiir.

He further urged the Sudanese parties to “negotiate in good faith, with the need to make some concessions in order to reach peace and stability in Sudan and the region as a whole.”
