South Sudan’s Kiir removes two governors in unity region

May 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, on Tuesday removed two state governors from the country’s defunct unity state.

The President in a decree read out on the government-ran channel, South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), removed Stephen Taker Riak Dong as governor of Southern Liech.

The same Decree also dismissed Them Machar Kuol as the governor of Ruweng state.

Kiir in anothekr decree appointed Major General Stephen Thiech Yar as replacement for Southern Liech governor. He appointed Brigadier Lawrence Mabok as the new governor of Ruweng state.

There was no reason cited as to why they were both dismissed.
