August 27, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani discussed bilateral relations in a phone call on Wednesday, according to Qatari state media.
The meeting which lasted one hour discussed, according to the government-ran Gulf Times, the bilateral relations between the two countries with the Qatari leader reiterating his country’s support for peace restoration in the world’s youngest country.
“His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of South Sudan Lt General Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Wednesday,” the Qatari government-ran Gulf Times said.
“During the phone call which the Amir made to the President , they reviewed the bilateral relations and ways of enhancing and developing them,” it added.
It further said the Qatari leader “affirmed the support of Qatar for the efforts of establishing peace in South Sudan, and harnessing all capabilities to guarantee the success of reaching an agreement between all parties in order to ensure stability and peace.”
“The Amir also praised the efforts of the president to consolidate peace in South Sudan. A number of issues of mutual concern were also discussed during the phone call.”
