October 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, today, travelled to Uganda for a regional peace summit on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) which is also expected to be attended by other regional heads of state and government.
South Sudan’s Presidency announced in a brief statement that the head of state arived in Entebbe and subsequently travelled to Kampala’s Munyonyo resort district where the regional summit on Democratic Republic of Congo is expected to take place.
“H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardiit arrived this morning in Entebbe International Airport to attend the 9th summit of Regional Oversight Mechanism of Peace, Secuirty and Coorporation for DRC in Kampala, Uganda,” said the South Sudan Presidency in a statement seen by teh Nyamilepedia this evening.
According to the breif statement by the office of the President, Kiir was accompaigned by senior government officials inclduing the minister in the office of the President Mayiik Ayii Deng and the deputy minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.
“The President was accompainied by Hon. Mayiik Ayii Deng, Minister in the Office of the President and Hon. Deng Dau, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,” the statement added.
Kiir was received, upon arrival, accordig to the statement, by the Ugandan Minister of State for Defense Affairs Macedwongo Okello. Upon arrival, the President, along with his high-level delegation headed to teh resort city of Munyonyo in Kampala where the summit is expected to take place.
