South Sudan’s defense and foreign ministers visit Japan

October 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan ministers of defense and foreign affairs have left the capital Juba heading to Japan to attend the enthronement of the new Japanese emperor.

In April this year and for the first time of its kind since 1817, Japanese Emperor Akihito announced that he would abdicate after 30 years on the Chrysanthemum Throne.

He would be succeeded by his son, Emperor Naruhito.

In a statement on Sunday, the Japanese embassy in Juba said South Sudan’s defense and foreign ministers, Kuol Manyang Juuk and Awut Deng, respectively, would attend the ceremony set for Tuesday.

On 20th October, Mr. Toyama, Charge d’Affaires of Japan, saw off Hon. Kuol Manyang, the Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, visiting Japan to attend the Ceremony of the Enthronement of His Majesty the Emperor to be held on 22nd Oct,” the statement seen by Nyamilepedia said.

Hon. Awut Deng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also attended there,” the statement added.
