Dec 17, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s most criticized National Dialogue Steering Committee, a body that was established outside the peace processes by president Kiir, has called it enough.
Submitting its final report, which made many political recommendations that include banning Riek Machar and other four vice presidents from running for the top seats in the country, the controversial steering committee said it has dissolved itself.
“After submitting this report to the government, the National Dialogue Steering Committee, would officially end its mandate and it will be dissolved. We anticipate a gap between the dissolution of the Steering Committee and the establishment of the follow-up and implementation mechanism institutions.” Read part of the final report.
The National Dialogue National Conference has resolved and recommended the follow-up and implementation mechanism to be carried out by private institutions that include the Sudd Institute, Ebony Center and Juba University’s Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies department.

“The Steering Committee, therefore, resolved to authorize the University of Juba, through its Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies, the Sudd Institute and the Ebony Center, to take custody of the National Dialogue documents by keeping copies.” The report added.
According to the National Dialogue Steering committee, these institutions will be expected to play a catalytic role of guiding the government in the implementation of the recommendations of the National Dialogue.
“This team is also expected to play a catalytic role of reminding the government and pertinent institutions on actions needed in the implementation of the recommendations of the National Dialogue.” The said.
While leaving its documents in the hands of these institutions, the National Dialogue encourages those who are interested to obtain their documents to make arrangments through those institutions.
“Other public institutions wishing to keep copies of the National Dialogue documents will be given copies through the aforementioned institutions.” The added.
The controversial body calls on South Sudanese and members of the International Community to continue supporting those institutions to advance their work on the National Dialogue.
“In light of this, the Steering Committee appeals to the international partners and benevolent South Sudanese and state institutions, to provide any necessary support to these institutions to advance their work on the National Dialogue.” They said.
