South Sudanese war veteran dies in Juba

September 1st 2018 (Nyamilepedia)  –  A South Sudanese war veteran who fought in South Sudan during the first and the second Sudanese civil war has died in the country’s capital Juba  following a lengthy illness,  family members have announced.
“With deep sorrow and on behalf of our elder brother Allison and the entire family, we regret to announce the untimely death of our Uncle, father, grandfather, elder, brother  and  friend Late Col Wilson Api John, who passed away around mid night on August 30, 2018 in Juba,” the family members said in a statement.
Late Wilson Api John is a trained pilot, a military officer and a freedom fighter who fought for independence of South Sudan from 1965 t0 1972 and again from 1986 to 2005. He served as the first Commissioner of Mundri East County in Amadi State and  City Mayor of Mundri town.
“We have lost a senior military officer, civil servant, politician, a Statesman, elder, friend, uncle, lovely father and an administrator,” the family said.
The statement released by the family said preparations are underway to transport his body home for burial on Saturday.
“Arrangements are being done to take his body to Mundri tomorrow morning for burial at his house. All relatives, inlaws, friends, colleagues, citizens of Amadi State and South Sudan are hereby informed,” they further said.
