July 28th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Members of the South Sudanese public remains outraged over the decision by the South Sudan’s incumbent Kiir to pay MPs a loan of $16 million to spend on cars and luxury housing while the people starves to death.
The decision to spend such a substantial amount of money on cars follow a parliamentarian decision last week to extend the term of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit for an additional period of three years as it is the same for the parliament’s own term.
The decision to extend the term of Kiir met a fierce criticism from international community, especially the world powers including the members of Troika as well as the opposition but the government argued that the decision aim to avoid criticism against the government in case the term expired without any renewal.
Many local and international observers said the move by Kiir to pay such a huge amount for personal use is likely aimed to expand his internal influence as opposition groups previously fighting the government are due in the nation’s capital Juba for peace implementation.
Some civil servants who have not been paid for almost a year said the decision by the South Sudanese leader is regrettable and should have used the money in paying civil servants who have gone a while without any payments.
