Juba, South Sudan
November 20,2021—South Sudanese citizens, especially activists and several political commentators, took to the streets demanding the reinstatement of Molana Kalisto Lado who was relieved on Thursday from mayorship by the governor of Central Equatoria state.
On Thursday evening, Governor of Central Equoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony issued a Gubernatorial Decree sacking Molana Kalisto Faustino from his position as City Mayor with immediate effect from 18th of November 2021.
Kalisto’s sacking caused reaction and widely criticized by nationwide activists saying Ladu was just removed due to his commitment to his duty.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Juba, one of the protesters who identified himself only as John for security reasons said they don’t need sacked Kalisto Lado back as Town Mayor anymore but they want President to relief Emmanuel Adil and appoint Kalisto as the Governor of Central Equotoria State.
” The removal of Kalisto as Town Mayor was a bad decision from Governor Adil and we are now not advocating for his reinstatement as Town Mayor but he is capable to be the next governor, we are appealing to President Kiir to appoint him as a Governor and relief Emmanuel Adil “, John told Nyamilepedia from South Sudanese capital Juba.
He said it’s very unfortunate that South Sudanese don’t like servicemen over officials who can’t deliver services to the citizens.
Some protesters chanting slogans such as “bring Kalisto back”, “remove all greedy men” and “leave our Kalisto”.
The Deputy Speaker of the Reconstituted National Transitional Legislative Assembly(RTNLA), Nathaniel Pierino also voiced his concerns over the sacking of Juba mayor saying he is worried about the intentions of removal of Kalisto.
