Nov 10, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– Women in Torit, Imatong State, have started engaging in carpentry and mechanic works and trainings in the new state to earn a living; breaking the odds that such industries are men-only territories.

A local workshop in Torit, Wilson’s Sons and Friends has enrolled six women who proudly said they are performing at the standard of hardworking men in carpentry to raise income and feed their children.

Margret Juma, a mother  of four children, says after completing she will open her own workshop and produce furniture to support her family.

Ipula Arasio, a mother of eight from Loudo village, another role model in the industry, says the only way to get employed is to do carpentry.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia Press Night Michael said some people did not believe carpentry work could be a job women could perform.

According to Solidarity Association for Rehabilitation and Recovery Affairs, a local organization operating in Torit, women will be given carpentry tools to set up their own businesses at home or take up jobs of carpentry across the country.

in South Sudan women are bearing the wrath of a deadly civil war as women are being raped, tortured or left as widows feeding many children.

The young country is suffering from what world leaders term as leadership failure but no one knows exactly when the conflict would be brought to an end.

Attempts to broker a peace agreement between the leaders of the divided ruling party, SPLM, have bored no fruits so far.

War continues in almost six of the ten states and famine displaces populations where war has spared such populations.
