South Sudan Warns Trump Administration Not To Meddle And Obstruct Peace Process in South Sudan

May 12th, 2018(Nyamilepedia) — Responding to the Press Statement of the United States of America, released on May 8th, 2018, South Sudan government accused the world’s supper power of derailing local efforts that are meant to end the conflict in the war-torn nation.

The long response blames the America government of imposing American interest instead of putting the South Sudanese interests first.

“It is in this context that the White House issued a press statement that repeats the unhelpful position that Washington has advanced in the last few years, which unfortunately does not promote the cause of attaining peace in South Sudan.” Read part of the statement

“Examined closely, the aforementioned excepts from the statement have actually killed the peace efforts in South Sudan because they leave the opposition with no incentives at all to pursue peaceful means. It is now clear to the entire world that it is the United States that is bent on obstructing the peace process in the Republic of South Sudan” Read parts of Salva Kiir Government response.

The Juba based government hoped that the United States would have supported and provided funding for the Transitional Government of National Unity but contrary they received more condemnations than support

“Instead of constructively engaging and fully supporting efforts of the South Sudan’s Transitional Government of National Unity to restore peace and stability in the country, the US has simply been hruling condemnations after condemnations”Read part of the statement

Juba believes that the Press Statement from Washington betrays the American Democracy and instead its proves how the American government meddle in other nations’ affairs.

“The Press Statement actually betrays the United States in terms of its democratic ideals for which it is know around the world. The statement comes as a naked direct interference with the internal affairs of a sovereign states.” Salva Kiir government said.

In conclusion, Juba warns the United States that further ill-considered statements like what the Washington issued on May 8th will only hurt peace process in South Sudan and further restrain relationships.

“Issuing of ill-considered statements such as this can only hurt the process and further restrain relationships.” Reads part of the statement.

“Despite the antagonistic position the United States has taken towards the Transitional Government of National Unity, we will continue to engage the United States and all our partners in the region and beyond[China] so as to achieve our common objectives of peace and stability in South Sudan and the wider region” The statement ends.
