November 19th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Vietnam has deployed troops to South Sudan, world’s youngest nation, to serve as part of a United Nations peacekeeping mission, Vietnamese media reported.

“The Ministry of Defence on November 19 held a ceremony to send 29 staff of Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital No. 2 to South Sudan to join UN peacekeeping mission,” Vietnam Plus – a Vietamese website – reported on Tuesday.

According to the news website, Vietnam’s “Ministry of National Defence on November 13 held a send-off ceremony for the second Level-2 Field Hospital which will participate in the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.”

South Sudan descended into a bloody civil war in December 2013. Around 400,000 people have been killed and millions have been uprooted from their homes.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is currently protecting thousands of people who have fled their homes because of fear of being killed.
