South Sudan vice-president, UN envoy discuss return of displaced

March 1st 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan vice-president Rebecca Garang and head of UN mission in the country, David Shearer have met and discussed the return of displaced persons.

The meeting discussed the return of those internally displaced who are being sheltered by the world mission at different protection of civilians sites across the country.

According to the world body, there are around 188528 IDPs in the POCs including 115,479 in Bentiu, 27,924 in Malakal, 29,948 in Juba, 1,934 in Bor, and 13,243 as of February 2020.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting at her residence in Juba, Garang said their meeting focussed on the return of the IDPs.

A statement by the South Sudan presidency said the meeting “agreed to speed up the process of the returned of the IDPs before the start of the rainy season.”
