August 26th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A London-based journalists’ organization has called on South Sudan government to bring justice for American journalist who was killed two years ago in the world’s youngest nation.

Christopher Allen – an American journalist – was killed in cross-fire while covering fighting between government and opposition forces in Central Equatoria on August 26th 2017.

Allen’s killing sparked international condemnations and highlighted South Sudan’s brutality against journalists.

The killing also prompted the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to impose further sanctions on government officials, including the country’s information minister, Michael Makuei for his role in expressing support for the journalist’s murder.

Two years since the killing of the American journalist, the London-based Pen International has stepped up advocacy campaigns and called for justice and accountability from South Sudan government for the slain American reporter.

“Two years ago today, journalist, Christopher Allen was killed in South Sudan. However, there has been no investigation and no justice for him and his family. This needs to change,” said the body also known as Scottish Center for Pen International in a brief statement seen by Nyamilepedia.

South Sudan is one of the most dangerous places for journalists. According to the World Press Freedom Index, South Sudan ranks 144th out of 180 countries with the worst record of media repression
