According to Makuei, the current developments in Sudan have nothing to do with the flow of the oil though it is affecting it for the time being, saying it will definitely continue to flow.

He said the current political fiasco in Khartoum will not jeopardize the oil flow.

“That is an internal problem and it has nothing to do with the flow of our oil.”, he said in a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia.

South Sudan depends on oil revenues where it generates at least 98% of its national income.

The international community has condemned the coup and called on the military leaders to respect the 2020 Juba Peace Agreement.

The US also announced it is now reviewing bilateral relations with Sudan after the coup.
