May 16th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan students in Kenya said on Wednesday that they support the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement by South Sudan parties distancing themselves from the protests called for by youths.
This came after youths said they would conduct protests in South Sudan and at diplomatic missions of the country abroad including the embassy in Kenya.
“On behalf of South Sudan Students’ Association in Kenya, we are here to affirm our position regarding the looming demonstration[s] alleged to be spearheaded by youths under [the] auspices of the so-called ‘Red Card Movement’ (RCM) from different tribes in South Sudan,” the student group said in a statement signed by its chairman, Tom Gatdel Malou, and extended to the Nyamilepedia on Wednesday.
“The leadership of SSSAK is in full support of government of South Sudan, SPLM-IO and SSOA. This is in spirit of peace facilitated by international communities and South Sudanese to have peace with no further ado,” the statement added.
“As the students and at the same time youths in diaspora, we condemn this in the strongest term possible and we say NO in its totality.”
