August 2, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s head of internal security bureau at the country’s national security service General Akol Koor Kuc is reportedly working to topple the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

One source said the intelligence chief came into disagreement with Kiir when he unilaterally arrested Kiir’s advisor on minority affairs General Akot Lual and later on President Kiir ordered the release of Akot Lual angering Akol.

“There are many problems between President Salva Kiir and General Akol Koor Kuc. One of them is the arrest of Akot Lual. The advisor of President Salva Kiir on the minority affairs and the envoy of the president to Pibor,” the source said in Juba on condition of anonymity.

“Akol Arrested Akot on the false allegations that Akot Lual was in South Sudan to collect data about corrupt government official for the Americans. He doesn’t want his data to be collected because he has killed many people,” the source added.

Another government official said differences between Akol Koor and Kiir began when the spy chief opened an airport in a small village in Tonj in June without the knowledge of President Salva Kiir.

“Kiir and Akol do not have any problem before. Kiir became suspicious of Akol when Akol opened an airport in Tonj. Private airport what does that mean to the president, the government and the people of South Sudan?”
