February 9th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan president, Salva Kiir, has offered a package of $20 million to state governors a year after a similar gesture to MPs costed the war-torn country $16 million.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Juba this morning, a Northern Liech state government minister said Kiir had directed the minister of finance to give state governors over $600,000 each to spend on cars before leaving for Addis Ababa where he is attending an AU summit.

“H.E the president directed the minister of finance to give the state governors $606,000 in order to buy cars and so on,” the minister said on condition of anonymity.

“This is because some of the governors don’t have cars since the establishment of the 32 stats which is a popular demand of the people of South Sudan,” the MP disclosed.

It is not yet clear where such a huge amount of money came from as the aid agencies says there is starvation across the country.

The government is also asking donors to financially support the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
