June 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) in the country’s capital Juba has arrested a lady suspected of having ties to planned protest organizers, the Red Card Movement (RCM) said in a statement.
“The Red Card Movement has suddenly learned with deep regret and dismay the arbitrary arrest of a South Sudanese young woman named Flora Peec Majook Ngor, 29 years old,” said a statement by the Red Card Movement.
“She is currently under the National Security detention center in the Blue House, Juba. Ms. Flora Peech Majok was …….. kidnapped by the notorious National Security Service (NSS) at Mia Sabah Residence on Thursday evening, 6th June 2019 at about 7:00 pm, a day after she paid a visit to her boyfriend Kerubino Wol, who is also being arbitrarily detained in Blue House,” the statement added.
The statement further said “since she was kidnapped by the NSS, she has not been produced in court. This is unconstitutional, and a clear violation of her constitutional rights.”
The statement went on to mention more cases of kidnapping by the South Sudan’s security service since the formation of the group in April.
“We would like to bring to the attention of the International friends (World) that Flora arrest is not an isolated case. On our record, we have several extrajudicial arrests, harassment, forced disappearance and extrajudicial killings of young people suspected of sympathizing with the Red Card Movement are happening on daily basis in Juba and other parts of country perpetrated by the administration of President Kiir,” the statement said.
“The continued arbitrary arrest of citizens is a total violation of human rights under the … constitution of the Land,” it added.
