June 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) on Monday briefly detained a South Sudanese journalist in Lakes state’s Rumbek town, colleagues told the Nyamilepedia on Wednesday.

One source from journalists union in Lakes told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon that Journalist Mabor Riak Magok who works for the state-ran radio, Rumbek FM 98 went missing on Monday evening before he was released on Tuesday morning.

Brother Mabor left the house according to the family heading to work, he was arrested on the way by three men in police uniform who later happened to be members of the national security in the state,” the colleague who requested the condition of anonymity told the Nyamilepedia today.

The same source said Mabor was taken by the security men to Makoi security facility in Central Rumbek. He said his colleague was release following a ‘long night’ at the facility without charges.

He was taken to Makoi security headquarters and was detained throughout the long night and then released without charges,” the source added.
