September 8th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has reiterated its position on forming the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGONU) on November 12th as stipulated by the parties in May.

Government spokesman and minister of information Michael Makuei Lueth told journalists in Juba following a cabinet meeting on Friday that the agreement was going well and that the government will be formed on time.

The government is delivering and implementation of the agreement is going on well,” Makuei said.

We are delivering and by Nov. 12 the revitalized transitional government will be established as in the extended agreement,” he added.

The outspoken senior government official further urged holdout opposition groups to stop causing what he said is havoc and join the revitalized peace deal signed by the government and several opposition groups in September last year.

They should join the peace agreement instead of going around and causing unnecessary havoc and suffering to the people of South Sudan,” Makuei said on non-signatories to the agreement.

South Sudan government and several opposition groups signed a revitalized version of a 2015 peace agreement to end the almost six-year old conflict.

A unity government formation initially scheduled for May 12th 2019 was extended for November but it is not clear if that government will be formed as IGAD said implementation of critical tasks are behind schedule.
