South Sudan says “individuals” faking negative COVID-19 tests documents

June 4, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government has said that some unnamed individuals are faking fake documents certifying negative coronavirus tests around Juba International Airport.

The ministry of health and the national coronavirus taskforce have been issuing docuements of negative COVID-19 tests purposely to allow people travel to states in the country.

In a ministerial order seen by Nyamilepedia, the minister of health, Elizabeth Acuei, said the practices were unlawful and ordered the suspension of the issuance of coronavirus negative test certificate.

“It has come to the attention of my office that some people, particularly around Juba International Airport (JIA) have been issuing fake Covid-19 negative test certificates. It is a criminal undertaking that I take issue with seriously,” the minister said in the order.

“In light of the above and in the best interest of protecting the public from these criminal activities: I do hereby order for suspension of issuing of Covid-19 negativity certificates until further notice.”
