August 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan parties who will meet in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa next week will deliberate on states and border issue as well as the security arrangements, a opposition figure with knowledge to the matter said.
The regional bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), which mediated the revitalized peace agreement signed by the South Sudanese rivals in Addis Ababa in September last year invited the parties to Addis Ababa.
This came after the regional body said critical tasks for the pre-transitional period are behind schedule as formation of unity government is less than three months away.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Baluang said the parties will discuss the number of states and the security arrangements.
Both issues are critical parts of the agreement.
“Yes, it’s true the number of the states and the security arrangements among other has tabled for discussion during the attended meeting,” he said.
For his part, a government official said he is hopeful that the states and border issue will be solved during next week meeting between the parties in Addis Ababa called for by the IGAD, the regional bloc which mediated the South Sudan peace deal.
