February 19th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan government on Tuesday recalled 43 diplomats serving in its foreign missions for overstaying, according to a foreign ministry letter obtained by Nyamilepedia.
The government said in the letter directing their immediate return to the country that the diplomats have until end of March to report back to the ministry of foreign affairs in Juba.
“The Leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation informs your esteemed Embassies/Missions that the under mentioned Deputy Ambassadors, Diplomats and Administrative Attachés are recalled back to the Headquarters,” the letter – with names attached – signed by the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Riek Puok Riek, partly reads.
It said the diplomats had “over stayed their tour of duties. They must report to the Headquarters by March 31, 2020.
“All Deputy Ambassadors, Diplomats and Administrative Attachés are asked to handover their duties and other responsibilities to the Head of Missions or Chargé d’ Affaires by 18th March, 2020.
“Head of Missions are instructed to provide one-way air tickets.”
