April 26th, 2018(Nyamilepedia) —– Recounting a mysterious incident, in which over 300 presidential guards of South Sudan incumbent, Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit and his former First Vice President and long time rival, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, butchered themselves to the last man at South Sudan’s presidential palace on July 8th 2016, President Salva Kiir, who recited his side of story two days ago at the funeral of his ex-chief of Defense Forces, has emerged as one of the all-time heroes of rivalries for saving the life of his deadly armed rival with his bare stomach and empty hands.

According to the president, although he was well aware that Dr. Machar was armed to the teeth [carrying a loaded pistol] he urged his second Vice President, Mr. James Wani Igga, to cover Machar with their bare stomachs to shield him from stray bullets.

“The same in 2016, when Machar went to my office with his cooped pistol trying to finish me in the office to declare himself as the president of South Sudan, which he didn’t manage,” Kiir recited a story he narrated to foreign media in 2016.

“After all when Machar’s bodyguards were completed during J1 fighting, I asked Vice President James wani Igga to offer protection to Machar by covering him with our bodies until we escorted him to his car and we saved him and now Riek is alive. I saved him just like the same way I saved his colleagues who participated with him in a coup attempt in 2013” Claims the president.

In his earliest statement, which was released immediately after the J1 fighting, president Kiir acknowledged that he lost at least 300 of his bodyguards in the 3-hours long intensive fighting while Dr. Machar camp admitted that they lost 42 out of 50 bodies that accompanied Machar to J1.

Neither side of the stories could be independently verified; however, according to reliable sources, the remnants that survived in the J1 fighting were the under-covered security, bodyguards, politicians and media personnel inside the building.

Notwithstanding that Machar “was armed with a pistol”, the bodyguards of the two rivals inside the palace did not open fire on one another which spared the lives of everyone inside the building.

According to President Kiir’s Press Secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, who spoke while visiting Australia in July last year, Dr. Machar was protected by Salva Kiir whom he referred as the “The God of J1”.

“Dr. Riek was protected by President Salva Kiir in that fighting. President Kiir made sure he covered Dr. Riak[Riek] and put him in an armoured vehicle and gave orders to the generals of the army to make sure Dr. Riak [Riek] goes back to his base” Ateny Wek said referring to the aftermath of the fighting.

On the other hand, Machar’s former Press Secretary, James Gatdet Dak, announced that the J1 incident was a conspiracy engineered by the president to assassinate Dr. Machar.

According to James Gatdet’s side of story, despite their insignificant in number, Machar’s bodyguards fought on until their reinforcement arrived and picked up their chairman when fighting subsided.

President Salva Kiir deeply regrets having let Machar left his ruined palace alive. He wished he killed Machar and all the former detainees, whom he released because of pressure from Machar and the International community.

“But when I watched television after I released them on the same day, I saw them being received on the red carpet by that country and they started talking politics after leaving Juba, so that’s why I regretted for saving their lives,” Kiir said.
